Use Me

Use Me

“The most successful people aren’t those with the most resources, but those who are the most resourceful” — Tony Robbins

Half my recruits are knocking it out of the park right now, and the other half are sputtering.

The ones doing well all have one thing in common: they use me.

Those kids call, text, email, copy me on emails, and schedule Zooms with me weekly—sometimes even daily.

“Hey Coach, I just got this text from a coach. How should I respond?”

“Hey Coach, a college coach just asked to set up a phone call. Can you help me prepare?”

“Hey Coach, I hurt my knee in the game this weekend and I’m feeling pretty down. Do you have time to talk through it with me?”

“Hey Coach, I think I’m changing my mind on playing in college. Can we talk about a new strategy for my future?”

“Coach, our daughter is struggling with her relationship with her coach. Can we set up a call to get some advice on how to keep her motivated and on track?”

These are all real examples of what I hear from recruits and parents all the time. They show what it looks like to truly take advantage of your recruiting coach—or anyone helping you navigate the transition from high school to college.

Recruiting support doesn’t have to be hour-long conversations every week. Sometimes it’s just a two-minute text, a quick call before practice, or forwarding an email to get an opinion. The point is this: success comes when you stay connected, stay engaged, and use the resources available to you.

Too many recruits try to figure it all out on their own, only to realize later that they missed opportunities or made decisions in isolation. The ones who lean in, ask questions, and aren’t afraid to seek guidance are the ones who thrive.

So my encouragement to you this week is simple: use the people who are here to help you—whether that’s me, your parents, your coaches, or mentors in your corner. Don’t wait until you’re stuck or discouraged. Stay proactive, stay connected, and keep building momentum in your journey.

Your recruiting journey isn’t meant to be walked alone. You’ve got people in your corner—so use them.
